Opening paragraph:
Most operators of inflatable amusement equipment (including inflatable castles, bounce houses, combos, slides, obstacle courses, cartoons and interactive inflatable games), understand the importance and method of anchors fixation to ensure safety during operation. But many of them do not quite know the numbers of anchors for each inflatables also matters. If anchorage not adequate, the inflatable equipment, especially outdoor inflatables, there would be risk of unsteadiness and imbalance.For a full range of outdoor-safe models,first see our Inflatable Castle collection. For example, our macaron bouncer (HJC001) requires at least 6 anchor points per side for safe outdoor use.
Paragraph on wind and air density:
The number of anchors is related with the wind, air density, size & type of the inflatable, etc.According to EN14960 standard, the optimal numbers of anchors for each side of inflatable products can be calculated based on the following formulas.Larger units like the Snow White Castle (HJC003) may need 8–10 anchors per side, while a compact Mini Castle (HJC012) may only need 4.
Paragraph on force calculation:
Firstly, calculate the force (F), which is the force working on each side.For combos such as the Iron Man Combo (HJC005) or Wedding Combo (HJC013), the force distribution is different because of the attached slide and bounce area. You must calculate each section separately.
Paragraph on outdoor use:
Outdoor inflatables like the Jungle Bouncer (HJC008) and Black Bouncer (HJC015) are more exposed to wind. EN14960 recommends using ground stakes at a 30°–45° angle, with each anchor tested to 1600 N.

F = force;
Cw = wind coefficient (a fixed number 1.5);
P = density of air (a fixed number 1.24 kg/m);
V = maximum wind speed (a fixed number 11.1 m/sec, Force of 6 Beaufort);
A= area of exposed surface according to the size of inflatable;
Secondly, calculate the the number of anchor-points required on each side.
N= F/1600N x 1.5, rounded up where 1.5 is a safety factor.
This calculation shall be repeated for each side.
Corner anchors count 50 % on each side.
Let’s take an example here. The following is a 4x4x4m inflatable castle. The area of exposed surface on each side (A) is 16m2.
So the Force (F) of each side is 1.5 x 1.24/2 x 11.12 x16 ≈ 1833.
The number of anchor points on each side is 1833/1600 x 1.5 ≈ 2.
The total anchor numbers for four sides of this inflatable should be 8.
Closing paragraph:
The number of fixed anchors directly determines the safety of inflatable amusement equipment. It is not a trivial detail, but a life-saving safeguard. When you can calculate the optimal anchor numbers, you can keep inflatable a safe and happy place for children.For more advice, welcome to consult with HeyJump, a professional provider of various inflatable equipment.
